Sunday 21st June 09

The longest day over here and also Father's day.
We had a chat with a couple of ladies over breakfast and then headed to Edinburgh. We did a side track to the Forth and Firth bridges. Quite impressive. We travelled over the younger bridge but the other is a rail bridge only. Don't think it will fall down in a hurry.
We then went in to Edinburgh and found ourselves at the bottom of the castle. So up we went and the walk wasn't as bad as we thought it would be. Lots of buses and people. The queue to go in was very very long but then I remembered they said if we had the heritage pass we wouldn't have to queue so found where to go and sure enough no waiting.
The castle is more like a fortress built high up and can be seen for miles. We spent quite a bit of time there and then we discovered the hop on hop off bus was nearby so "hopped on" Not cheap but a good way to see the city especially for Owen. Then after doing the whole circuit we got back to the car. We then travelled to the east towards North Berwick. Some lovely big homes and some more ruins and then back to our base for dinner.
